At KW Library of Things, we are committed to providing an accessible online experience for all users. Guided by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), we strive to ensure that our website is inclusive, easy to use, and continually evolving to meet and exceed accessibility standards.

To further enhance accessibility, we have implemented the ReachDeck Toolbar, which provides text-to-speech, reading, and translation support. This tool offers visitors instant access to assistive features, reducing barriers to digital content for diverse audiences.

  • Adaptability: Content is designed to adapt to individual needs, including simplified layouts and scalable text.

  • Distinguishability: Text is at least 14 points with high-contrast backgrounds, avoiding fonts or designs that hinder readability.

  • Keyboard Accessibility: Full functionality is available via keyboard for users with limited motor skills.

  • Timing Adjustments: Rotating or timed elements include options to pause or turn off to accommodate users with reading disabilities.

  • Seizure Prevention: We avoid flashing elements or ensure they meet safety standards (less than three flashes per second).

  • Logical Navigation: Clear, consistent navigation ensures users can easily find the information they need.

  • Readability: Simple, plain language is used, with content broken into digestible sections for easier understanding.

  • Predictability: Consistent layout and functionality across pages avoid confusion and ensure intuitive use.

  • Input Assistance: Forms are designed to be user-friendly, providing clear instructions and error feedback.

  • Assistive Technology Compatibility: Our website is compatible with screen readers, magnifiers, and other assistive devices.
