  • Our inventory includes nearly 1,000 items, such as drills, saws, gardening tools, camping gear, food dehydrators, and more. Each membership tier provides access to base or premium items. You can click on the Inventory tab to learn more about our membership tiers.

  • Once you’re a member, you can browse our inventory online through MyTurn and reserve the tools you need. Pick them up at our location during operating hours, and when you’re done, return them so the next member can use them.

  • The KWLOT offers four Membership tiers: Base ($50/year), Plus ($100/year), Premium ($200/year), and Community Builder ($500/year). Each tier offers increasing benefits in terms of maximum items per loan, loan periods, simultaneous reservations, and access to premium tools. Higher tiers also include social impact contributions and first access to new perks.

  • Accidents happen, and we understand! We are okay with normal wear and tear. If a tool is beyond that, we have a fair repair policy in place. Please let us know as soon as possible, and we’ll work with you to find a solution that minimizes stress while keeping our tools in great shape for everyone.

  • KWLOT does not charge daily late fees. However, timely returns are crucial for other members. If an item is not returned by its due date and impacts a subsequent reservation, KWLOT reserves the right to charge an Item Recovery Fee, which can be up to 100% of the replacement cost, to cover operational disruptions.

If an item is not returned for 14 days after its due date, it is considered lost.

  • For Base Members, Premium Tools are available on a pay-per-use basis, with a small fee applied to help cover their maintenance and care. However, if you are a Plus, Premium, or Community Builder Member, all pay-per-use fees for Premium Tools are waived – they are included as part of your Membership!

  • "First access to new perks" means that members in the Plus, Premium, and Community Builder tiers will be the first to be notified about and have the opportunity to sign up for or utilize new offerings from the KW Library of Things.

    This could include:

    • Early registration for new workshops: They'd get a head start before general registration opens, increasing their chances of securing a spot.

    • Priority booking for new services: As we expand KWLOT and add new services, these membership tiers will have first access to it.

    • Exclusive previews or beta testing: For new tools added to the inventory or new features on the website.

    • Special invitations: To member-only events or discussions.

  • We always need volunteers!

Check out our volunteer page for current openings.

  • Please visit our donation page to see what items are currently in need!

  • Financial donations are offered a tax receipt through Extend-a-Family Waterloo Region.

Tool donations may be offered a tax receipt, depending on item condition and value.
